This is a very important religious ceremony in the Khmer Buddhist tradition for establishing the official boundaries (Sima) of the main temple building or making the building a holy religious place.

A historic and first visit by Mrs. Lyna Lam, President of A Khmer Buddhist Foundation, and her husband, Mr. Chris Larson and their children to The Modesto Cambodian Buddhist Society. Mrs. Lam and Mr. Larson donated $400,000 for the construction of the temple.
The Wat Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc., amended to Modesto Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc. in 2003 (MCBS), locates on a 12.25 acres lot on 1528 and 1538 Grimes Avenue in Modesto, California. Modesto is home to approximately 4,000 Cambodians.
The Modesto Cambodian Buddhist Society Inc. serves multiple functions. Firstly, the MCBS is a cultural, spiritual and religious center not only for the Cambodians (Khmer), but for all others who sought out to better understand Buddhism and Cambodian culture.
